A variant of this model, featuring seagulls around the ship, was created in 1938 for the King of England's official visit to Paris in July. The city of Paris wanted to offer it as an official gift. The gull-winged model became referenced by Lalique as “Surtout de table lumineux des Souverains anglais”.
